MEET THE ARTIST: Angela M. Colón-Rentas


Angela M. Colón-Rentas is a Puerto Rican self-taught Artist and authentic mirror-writer (reversed writing). Raised in Rochester, New York, she is a Professional Youth Peer Advocate alumni, credentialed Family Support Specialist, and Adult Peer in New York State. As a professional she's stiving to increase mental health awareness, address racial and systemic inequities, and help break the mental health stigma. by using her voice to embrace policy change and spark hope via her lived experience. She aspires to bring awareness and empowerment to communities and individuals close to home and all around the world.

She's a mother of two, a nature and stellar enthusiast, poet, author, artrepreneur, and a curious old soul. 

In 2008, at the age of 15, she won the National Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health, national poster contest. her artwork was displayed all across the Unities States, Puerto Rico, and Guam during mental health awareness week 2009.

As a human, humbly, she hopes to leave a legacy behind for her daughters and the world to remember. The first renowned, Puerto Rican Woman Mirror-Writing Artist.

Promoting mental wellness via the art of mirror writing and the power of words. 

Angela M. Colón-Rentas is New York State Certified Peer Specialist and Credentialed Family Peer Advocate. She is now offering artistic 90-minute mental wellness and team building workshops, for schools, professionals, and the community. Using her lived experience in the child serving systems and artistic perspective, she works to promote equity and mental wellness for our youth and BIPOC communities. Via the power of reflection, we can learn to understand our selves and surroundings, finding the power within. Materials included.
